NICHOLAS ARMANDO PROMOTED TO CHIEF
Chief Nicholas Armando, a 30 year veteran of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, was promoted to the rank of Chief and assigned to the Administrative Services Division on July 4, 2019. The Administrative Services Division encompasses the Department's Training Bureau, which houses the Sheriff's Academy and in service training alongside recruitment efforts, alongside the Sheriff's Information Bureau and Communications and Fleet Management Bureau. It is also responsible for the maintenance of Department intranets and policy documents. The Administrative Services Division is the backbone of the Department.
Chief Armando's career with the Sheriff's Department began in 1989, when he was laterally hired from the Los Santos Police Department and was assigned to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Chief Armando worked as a field training officer with the LSPD prior to lateraling to the Sheriff's Department. He transferred to Santa Clara Valley Station in 1991. As a deputy, Chief Armando worked gang enforcement and traffic assignments. He was also a field training officer. Chief Armando promoted to Sergeant in 1997 and worked as a field sergeant and traffic sergeant at Santa Clara Valley Station. He transferred to Communications and Fleet Management Bureau in 2002, overseeing the Fleet Unit. Chief Armando promoted to Lieutenant in 2006 and served as a Watch Commander at Santa Clara Valley Station. He also served as the Operations Lieutenant at Santa Clara Valley Station.
Chief Armando was selected to promote to Captain and assume command of the Santa Clara Valley Station in 2013. The Santa Clara Valley Station provides law enforcement services for over 1,000 square miles of land and over 250,000 residents. Chief Armando's tenure as Captain saw a heightened focus on community oriented policing efforts. He sponsored and actively attended "Coffee with the Captain" events at local establishments to build rapport with the local community. Chief Armando promoted to Commander in 2016, overseeing the Administrative Services Division.
Chief Armando lives in Palomino Creek with his wife and their minor son. Chief Armando holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Texas, Arlington.
