Release #326 - JANUARY 7TH, 201X
SASD 2016 Year in Review
As we start 2017, the Sheriff's Department would like to take a few moments to reflect on the year we've had. During the course of twelve months, Deputies seized and documented evidence with a total estimated street value of $23,550,560. The top month for collection was January.

Various awards were also issued throughout the year. The advanced driver award, awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional driving skill, had two recipients. The advanced pilot award, for those demonstrating exceptional pilot skills, had one recipient. The Sheriff's Personal Award, given "to those who have been helping the department to achieve new goals and have been supporting Command and Executive Staff in the most varied ways." and the Executive Staff's Appreciation award, given "to those who have consistently shown exceptional skills and/or dedication in a variety of ways throughout their career in the San Andreas Sheriffs Department" each had two recipients.

The lifesaving award, given "to those who while serving the San Andreas Sheriff's Department distinguish themselves by on-duty actions which directly save a human life" was awarded 41 times. Some of those were given to the same person more than once. The Bronze Star, which is given "to person who while serving in any capacity with the San Andreas Sheriff's Department performs an act of which is above and beyond the expected standards to that of an employee of the San Andreas Sheriffs Department" had 9 recipients. The Silver Star, " awarded to any person who while serving in any capacity with the San Andreas Sheriff's Department performs an act of gallantry" had 5 recipients. The highest honor, the Medal of Valor, which " is given to any person who while serving in any capacity with the San Andreas Sheriff's Department performs an act of extreme personal bravery or selfsacrifice" had 1 singular recipient. As a reminder, those in the Sheriff's Department can internally nominate others for awards here, and those outside of the Department, including other Government Agencies, can nominate here!

We held a total of eight recruitment drives for the year:
