Mugshots of Coronel, Delgado, and Estevez.
Gang activity in East Los Santos has been on the rise for quite some time. Law enforcement agencies receive a high call volume daily from the area, with everything ranging from graffiti to robbery to shootouts. Cardinal Park, the area just south of the Los Santos Police Department's East Los Santos Precinct, has been an epicenter of gang activity, even receiving an injunction from the Superior Court last April.

Early morning of January 21st, a 911 call came in from East Los Santos. The reporter stated that a black sedan with three occupants was armed. Deputies approached with caution and pulled the vehicle over near County General Hospital. Four ground units parked behind the vehicle. Before a proper stop could be initiated, the vehicle fled south into Idlewood. The Sheriff's helicopter maintained visual and updates.

When the sedan pulled onto the Verona highway, one of the occupants leaned out with an automatic weapon and opened fire towards deputies. The deputies immediately returned fire on the occupants. The sedan was disabled and the occupants exited the vehicle and were quickly taken down by Deputies on scene. There were no injuries from the Sheriff's Department on scene.

All suspects were declared dead on arrival and three weapons were confiscated. The first deceased to be identified was Diego "Scarecrow" Coronel, who was believed to be a street leader of the Maravilla gang in Cardinal Park. Coronel had several prior felony convictions and was the suspect in even more. His convictions contained several drug and weapon charges, and he was suspected of multiple murders, including those of his own members. The secondary members were Andy "Snoops" Estevez and Lonzo "Creeper" Delgado.

The San Andreas Sheriff's Department encourages anyone in the area of East Los Santos that sees crime to report it immediately via 911.
