Release #338 - August 26th, 2017
Drunk Motorist Involved in Road Accident
The blocked south lane on busy Main Street.
During the evening on August 23rd a motorist was arrested for driving under the influence following a serious vehicular accident on Main Street, in Los Santos. The intoxicated motorist drove through an emergency vehicle's path, causing serious injury to a paramedic. The south lane on Main Street was completely blocked off for about an hour whilst paramedics and firefighters were trying to extract the seriously injured paramedic.

The intoxicated motorist suffered from only a minor injury to his leg, and attempted to leave the scene when traffic deputies arrived. The intoxicated driver was operating a stolen vehicle, although he claimed it was only borrowed. He violently resisted authorities after this came to light and was later transported to the San Andreas Correctional Facility.

Recently there has been a dramatic increase in cases involving drivers being under the influence of drugs or alcohol whilst operating vehicles. Newsrooms are filled with articles with stories related to this matter and the Traffic Enforcement Unit within the San Andreas Sheriff's Department takes it very seriously.

According to statistics from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), everyday 28 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This equates to approximately one death every 51 minutes.
