Mike Gaston, an 18-year veteran of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department was promoted to Assistant Sheriff by Sheriff Ezio Poldilotta and recently took command of the Patrol Operations Division, supervising and providing police services to all stations of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, of which governs three cities and 29 communities.
Assistant Sheriff Gaston's career with the Sheriff's Department began in 1999. After graduating from the Sheriff's Training Academy and being named the Honor Cadet of his class, he was assigned to the Santa Clara Valley Patrol Station. Upon his promotion to Sergeant in 2003, Assistant Sheriff Gaston worked at Santa Clara Valley Sheriff's Station and Department Administration. Prior to his promotion to Lieutenant in 2010, Assistant Sheriff Gaston was attached as the Watch Commander for the PM Watch of the Santa Clara Valley Patrol Station. In 2010, Assistant Sheriff Gaston was promoted to Lieutenant as the Operations Lieutenant for Santa Clara Valley Patrol. At the end of 2012, Assistant Sheriff Gaston was then subsequently promoted to Captain of the Santa Clara Valley Station. Within his promotion to Commander then Division Chief within the beginning of 2014, Gaston worked primarily as the Assistant Commander, then Commander of the Administrative Services Bureau, before transferring to his billet as Chief of Staff.
Assistant Sheriff Gaston, the first African American to reach his rank, resides in Palomino Creek and is unmarried. In his spare time, Assistant Sheriff Gaston enjoys reading and athletics.
